After four years of providing free Webinars I have decided to call it a day.
Our goal at Effective ManagersTM has always been to provide great content to people that can use it. My strategy has been to help people be more effective in their work. My focus is accountability in the workplace, but this touches on many facets of organizational life.
By addressing current issues, I can provide insights for participants to help them be more effective. And if I can help managers be more effective, that will improve team performance, and organizations will be more successful.
Unfortunately Webinars as a tool for communication are getting a bad rep. In my own experience attending Webinars that sound great, the formula is:
- promise great content
- sink the hook
- reel you in
- set the hook
- reel you in
- and maybe in the last two minutes provide some content, but only after the slick sales pitch.
OK, I am exaggerating a bit. But not much!
In any event, I have realized that Webinars are not the mechanism for me to execute my strategy of providing great content in a timely way.
Going forward I will be doing short (5 – 10 minute) YouTube videos addressing one question at a time. Over time we will develop a video FAQ that will be freely available on my YouTube channel.
